Severe weather could be to blame for an early-morning fire Tuesday in Brunswick County.

The fire started a little after 6:30 this morning at this home on Presidents Drive in Boiling Spring Lakes.

Six area fire departments responded to help put out the blaze.

Once fire crews arrived on the scene, they knew it was serious. "When law enforcement and fire departments arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke showing from the house, and then fire shone through the attic,” said Brunswick County Fire Marshall Scott Garner.

Fire crews fought the blaze during heavy rain early this morning.

One person was in the house at the time, but was unhurt.

Investigators believe a lighting strike started the fire.
