Four Carolina Panthers visit local middle school

WILMINGTON -- Some of the Carolina Panthers are in town and visited a local middle school Thursday. Four players from the state's only professional football team visited Roland-Grise Middle School in Wilmington Thursday afternoon. The team's mascot, Sir Purr, and some of the cheerleaders also came to the school. The Panthers' backup quarterback Brett Basanez told the students what it takes to get to the top. Basanez said, "It's all about what you want, whether it's in school or in sports. Don't ever let anyone tell you you can't make it." Students got a chance to play trivia with their favorite players. After the trip to the school the Panthers entourage made their way over to Hugh McCrae park for fan appreciation.
