WILMINGTON -- Cape Fear Community College received a huge gift from the City's former mayor. Former mayor Spence Broadhurst donated $15,000 to the college to help City employees and their family. The donation money came from remaining funds from Broadhurst's mayoral campaign. Broadhurst said, "We did it because the employees in the City of Wilmington are so critical to everything that we accomplish… I just wanted to say thank you to them and let them know how much I appreciate what they meant to me while I was here." The scholarship is named after the CFCC foundation chair, Louise McColl.
