Family and friends paid final respects to a North Carolina Navy commander killed in Iraq Wednesday.

A memorial service was held for Charles Keith Springle, one of five Americans gunned down last week in a military counseling clinic in Baghdad by a fellow American. The service took place in Springle's native Beaufort. The Navy commander called Wilmington home.

He will be laid to rest next month at Arlington National Cemetery.

American Army Sergeant John Russell is charged with the five deaths.
