Suspect arrested in Southport murder

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with Friday's murder in Southport.

Southport Police Chief Jerry Dove said they have someone in jail, but he isn't releasing any further information. The murder happened on West 11th Street.

Friday afternoon around 2:30, someone noticed Gladys Myrie's broken window. The 62-year old was found inside, stabbed to death.

This is the first reported murder in Southport this year.
