CHAPEL HILL (AP) -- North Carolina coach Roy Williams has been given a four-year contract extension today that will keep him with the Tar Heels through the 2014-15 season.
Williams had signed an eight-year contract before the 2003-04 season. He will make up to $1.8 million a year. He's eligible for incentives based on the team's performance on the court and in the classroom.
Athletic director Dick Baddour today called Williams the most complete coach in the country. He says Williams has exceeded expectations.
Williams will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September. He is 106-and-30 in four seasons at North Carolina.
In his career at Kansas and North Carolina, he's 524-and-131 in 19 seasons. He won his only national championship in 2005 with the Tar Heels.
