Coast Guard helps build Habitat home

They're usually busy protecting the waterways in our area. Today they traded in their sea legs for tool belts. Members of the Coast Guard's Marine Safety Unit Wilmington helped build a new home for Habitat for Humanity on Prices Lane in Wilmington
 
On the job the unit is responsible for things like homeland and port security and vessel inspections around the Cape Fear River Basin. But even though they serve our country full time, they want to serve the community, as well.

 "It's not just our duty to serve our country for our jobs, but to come out and serve our people," BM1 Kenny Tucker said. "We're people, too. We're your neighbors. We're your friends. We're the people in the grocery store, so there's no reason why we shouldn't be out here community serving with everyone else."
