Each year your tax dollars go to support things like the military, and law enforcement agencies, but exactly what does that money do? This weekend agencies from all around the state will give you the chance to see just what they do. The different law enforcement groups will give demonstrations of what they do on a normal day. The Coast Guard is just one of the service groups taking part in this weekend's safety expo on Oak Island. Participants say not only will the event be educational, but a lot of fun too. Petty Officer, David Burr of the Oak Island Coast Guard says, "we will have heaving line demonstrations and search and rescue demonstrations. Kids and adults can climb on helicopters. We'll have a hawk coming from Elizabeth City and we'll have an Army Black Hawk coming from Ft. Bragg and a North Carolina Fishery’s helicopter and we'll have all of our boats." The Safety Day Expo takes place this Saturday at the Oak Island Coast Guard station. The expo will run from 10 to 2.
