Major layoffs announced for PPD

PPD announced they laid off approximately eighty workers from their Wilmington office on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed that PPD cut approximately 270 employees from their North American staff overall.

The spokesperson attributed the reductions to the recession, saying the size of their workforce no longer matched the demand for their services.

Approximately 1,600 people are employed at the Wilmington facility.
