The Department of Transportation said that construction of the bridge will be put on hold again - this time due to hairline cracks in the girders. Last fall, a girder collapsed and killed construction worker Jose Montalvo. A spokesman for the DOT told WWAY that the department is inspecting the cracks and will resume construction when they are sure it is safe.

Yeah, I gotta admit, I live three streets away from it and see it every day and I can't help but get a creepy feeling about the thing. It just seems doomed. As much as I really want it to be built, I can't help but feel we need a different contractor at this point.

Girder collapse, crane broke, barge sunk, now hairline cracks found. I know one thing, I will not be one of the first to drive over that bridge!

Looks like they need to demolish what has been done and start new with another contractor. What is wrong that can't be seen?
