Brunswick County Schools Superintendent Katie McGee recently extended her contract with the school district until 2010.
She also got a salary boost and effective this summer she'll be making $166,000 a year.
While her new salary may seem steep, school officials say it's not out of the ordinary considering McGee oversees nearly 12,000 students across Brunswick County.
New Hanover County Superintendent John Morris actually makes more than McGee, raking in more than $190,000 a year.
Pender and Columbus County superintendents make less, at a little over $130,000 as their counties serve fewer students.
