Predators, Hurricanes swap centers
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes have swapped centers with the Nashville Predators, bringing Josef Vasicek back to Raleigh in exchange for Eric Belanger.
The Hurricanes originally traded Vasicek to Nashville in July to acquire Scott Walker.
Vasicek had played five seasons with Carolina and was with the team for last year's Stanley Cup run.
Vasicek has only 13 points in 38 games and was having trouble working his way onto the ice in Nashville. Carolina acquired Belanger during training camp in a trade with Los Angeles.
He has won 53 percent of his face-offs, which is second on the Hurricanes, and an area the Predators want to improve.
The center spent his first five NHL seasons with Los Angeles and had career highs in goals, assists and points last season. He has 20 points in 56 games this season with 8 goals and 12 assists.
