Pender County woman charged with animal cruelty

PENDER COUNTY -- A Pender County woman charged with animal cruelty had her court case continued Tuesday.

Anita Hewett was charged with eight counts of animal cruelty last month by the Columbus County Animal Cruelty investigator.

Hewett is accused of starving eight horses. The horses have since been placed in foster homes where they are recuperating.

Hewett court case has been rescheduled for early October.
