Duke women unanimous No. 1 after beating Tar Heels
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- If there's anyone who doubts Duke is the best women's college basketball team in the nation, they didn't cast a ballot in the latest poll.
The Blue Devils were unanimous at Number One in The Associated Press women's basketball poll, receiving all 49 first-place votes from a national media panel.
At 26-0, Duke emerged as the only unbeaten team in Division I after its 64-53 victory at Number Two North Carolina last week.
The Blue Devils followed that win with a 77-45 victory over Wake Forest and topped the poll for the fifth straight week, their second-longest run at Number One. They led the first 12 polls of the 2002-2003 season.
North Carolina is still second, but its lead over third-ranked Tennessee shrank to 26 points. The only change in the top 10 was at Number Nine, where Stanford switched places with Number 11 Georgia.
Michigan State was the lone newcomer in the poll, returning at Number 24 after a two-week absence.
