BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- Brunswick County Schools are fighting back against the lawsuit filed by parents of the student who married her coach.
According to published reports the school board's lawyer filed a motion to dismiss to the suit. The motion asks to release the school board from responsibility if insurance doesn't protect it against claims of negligence.
The motion also cites lack of evidence.
Dennis and Betty Hager, parents of South Brunswick High School student Windy Wuchae, filed the suit, claiming the school board didn't do enough to stop the relationship between their daughter and 40-year-old cross country coach Brent Wuchae.

the problem is the school board members themselves, hobbs home schools his kids, or did and that says alot about his faith in his leadership on the school board, miller is only using the the school so he can run for sheriff and ray gilbert uses it to buy personal items with a county credit card.. come on i did not vote for these people, i voted for someone other than these... we need new faces on the board, someone with children in the school system and someone that cares about the teachers, parents and children..... LET THE SEARCH BEGIN FOR THOSE NEW FACES....

Aren't the parents just to blame also? Didn't they give their consent for her to marry? I thought I read that somewhere is that true or not? As for the school system, yes they should have done more by firing him at once. What happened to the ole days of boys being afraid of the girls father? The father should have went after the ole man and went balistic on his a__. Even if he himself ended up in jail. He__ i would have paid his bail money. This is a kid we are talking about. Parents should have more rights to protect their children from these nasty guys.

If it was not for fear of my child being retaliated against, I would also be voicing my own concerns, I have seen in my own situation how bullying incidents are swept under the carpet, the bullies are not punished appropriately and the children who are victims are left feeling scared and isolated. The more involved I get in the school system the more stories I am hearing from other parents about inappropriate acts with the teachers, students, bullying, buses. I take great care and pride in my child, it seems that the school system is more interested in having the kids pass the end of grades tests, instead of teaching, nuturing and making school fun. Honestly, who really likes going to school, but when children are worried and scared everyday it is detrimental to their health, their personality, their life. We need a new schoolboard in Brunswick County that will work for the CHILDREN no themselves and their pockets.

After reading my previous comment, I wanted to also say that I do not feel it is the teacher's at all who are to blame, (except for the teachers that have crossed the line which I do believe happened and I do believe the system knew about it). I think they work hard for what they are given and asked to do. I have not had any issues myself with teachers, just the administration. We need to put the education funds to the schools, to the teachers, to books, gym equipment etc., and as the previous person stated WE DO NEED NEW FACES, before we lose our children!!!
