Clear Skies for Holiday Travelers

Millions of Americans were expected to travel by plane or car over the holiday weekend. Early predictions claimed that the Thanksgiving holiday weekend would be one of the busiest in years at the nation's airports, but for the most part, things ran smoothly at Wilmington International.

Kate Watts flew to Wilmington from Baltimore to visit her parents. She was reluctant to even make the trip when she thought about airport lines, cramped seats, and possible delays, but she was pleasantly surprised when she didn't experience any of that. "I fly all the time, I travel all the time, and this was one of the easiest travel days I've ever had," she said.

Millions of people were expected to be hitting airports over the holiday weekend, but flights in and out of Wilmington International took off without a hitch.

More than thirty-one million Americans chose to drive instead of fly over the holiday weekend, but for some, it was a bumpy ride. The Weeden family experienced the troubles of traveling over the holidays first-hand. "We drove Tuesday from Raleigh, North Carolina to Atlanta, normally that would take about five and a half to about six hours, and it took us about eight and a half, traffic is just apart of holiday travel whether your at the airport or your driving.
