Story body

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Three Atlantic Coast Conference schools are on the 2007 East Carolina football schedule announced today.

The Pirates, members of Conference USA, will face the Hokies in the season-opening game on September 1st at Blacksburg. ECU comes home to play North Carolina on September 8. North Carolina State comes to town on October 20.

NC State is making its first trip to Greenville since 1999, which extends a series with East Carolina that dates back to 1970. Although the Wolfpack leads the all-time series 14-to-10, ECU has captured five of the last seven meetings since 1987, which includes a 21-16 triumph last November in Raleigh.

There's also a meeting with West Virginia, one of four bowl teams on the schedule. That game is set for September 22 in Morgantown.

Southern Mississippi comes to Greenville to open the conference schedule on September 15.

East Carolina will play three of its four October games at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
