UNCW swim coach is living legend
You have to be careful using the term "living legend," but UNCW's head swimming coach seems to fit the criteria. After Sunday's win over Wingate, Dave Allen now has 409 career coaching victories. The man literally built the program from scratch more than 30 years ago. Coach Allen
I am honored to have been on the first out of state recruiting team in 1978, and came to UNC-W because I was impressed with Dave Allen the first time we met. He has been an inspiration and a dear friend ever since. Many of the original members of the first few years of UNC-W Swimming and Diving have created a program called the "Aquahawks", which raises funds for scholarships and much needed facility improvements. It is now one of the most successful fund raising programs of it's kind in UNC-W athletics, and supports endowment scholarships of future swimmers and divers. It is all because we all want to support Dave Allen and Marc Ellington win even more CAA Championships than they already have.
Thanks Dave, for all you have done for me, your student athletes, and UNC-W Seahawks! I wish you well in your continued domination of CAA Swimming and Diving. Terry Cascaddan '82
