RALEIGH (AP) -- North Carolina coach Roy Williams said on Sunday that Tyler Hansbrough's nose was not broken after he was hit by an elbow from Duke's Gerald Henderson.
Today, Williams says Hansbrough's nose is broken, and he joked this morning that his information was from a bad source -- Hansbrough himself.
Williams told reporters listening to the weekly ACC teleconference that Hansbrough suffered a small nondisplaced fracture when he was hit with 14 and a half seconds left. Officials ruled it a flagrant foul and Henderson was ejected from the game.
By rule, Henderson will miss Duke's next game, which comes in the ACC tournament against North Carolina State on Thursday.
Williams says the fracture was discovered during an X-ray this morning. He says Hansbrough is being fitted with a custom-made protective mask, and will probably play in the Tar Heels' game in the ACC tournament on Friday.
