RALEIGH (AP) -- Governor Mike Easley says Lieutenant Governor Bev Perdue will be a great governor because she understands the importance of education to North Carolina's
economy.

Easley endorsed Perdue during a news conference today at the state Democratic Party headquarters. Perdue defeated State Treasurer Richard Moore in the Democratic primary last night.

Easley says Perdue is used to getting things done in state government. He referenced Perdue's time as a state legislator, her efforts to increase salaries for teachers and her support of the state's Smart Start pre-kindergarten program.

Perdue says her campaign will be defined by "kitchen table issues."

Perdue will face Republican Pat McCrory in the November general election.

Who Will Pay?

I think we need to also stop wasting tax money.
I believe this is our biggest problem in government.
Tax & Spend seems to be one of North Carolina's and certainly Wilmington's best government roles.
Is that what Democrats do? Is that what Bev Perdue will do?
No, I think their very platform is Tax & Spend.

Now we all know who NOT to

Now we all know who NOT to vote for. Thank you again Governor, you made up my mind not to vote for Hillary and now you made up my mind not to vote for Bev Purdue. Life just keeps getting easier thanks to endorsements from people who have no clue.

His endorsement...

of Hillary sure did her a lot of good...If I were Bev..."Thanks Mike...but no thanks."
