First witness takes stand in Delgado trial

Jury selection is over, and attorneys have made their opening statements.

The first witness took the stand this afternoon in the trial for Tyrone Delgado.

Tyrone Delgado is charged with the murder and rape of Melissa Mooney in her Castle Hayne home in August of 1999.

Mooney was an FBI secretary, and she and Delgado were neighbors.

Investigators say Mooney's door was kicked in and the suspect made an attempt to sexually assault her before strangling her to death.

Witnesses from across the country are coming together to testify in this trial.
