COLUMBUS COUNTY -- Deputies in Columbus County are trying to solve an overnight murder.
The Sheriff's office says the murder happened off Stanley Circle in Whiteville around one a.m.
Detectives say someone shot and killed 44-year-old Purdie Vereen.
Officers believe there were several witnesses they would like to come forward. There is a reward for anyone with information leading to the suspect.
