It appears as if the threatened delays might not be as bad as first thought. The Department of Transportation has given the contractor a lot of flexibility, part of which was to start the work yesterday.
Instead, Laneford Corporation chose to start Sunday, June 1.
Work crews will be out early, and you can expect some lane closures.
David Candella, project engineer, said, "These are the options that the contractor has: They have the option to close lanes Monday through Thursday, they have the option to close the bridge from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., they can do what they need to do and they can create their own schedule."
Lane closures will continue Monday through Thursday, for at least a week, while crews fix corroded parts of the bridge.
