CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) -- A program that helps families of wounded troops find housing when they return to Camp Lejeune is getting a boost this week.
The Hope for the Warriors program is receiving two renovated base houses that have been outfitted with wheelchair accessible bathrooms and entrances. The renovations were donated by contractors working on base housing upgrades.
Shannon Maxwell is vice president of the Hope group and says her goal one day is to have hotel-like housing where wounded veterans and their families can live in rooms but share experiences in common dining and living areas.
