Hurricanes 3, Panthers 1

Story body

RALEIGH (AP) -- Cory Stillman, Rod Brind'Amour and Scott Walker scored to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-to-1 win over the Florida Panthers Tuesday night.

The Hurricanes are fighting for the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference without goalie Cam Ward, who injured his left knee Sunday. John Grahame made 26 saves in Ward's place against Florida.

Ward is expected to miss at least two more games with laceration on his left knee.

Walker punched in a loose puck with 15.3 seconds left in the second period to break a 1-1 tie. It was Walker's 20th goal of the season and just the second power-play goal for Carolina in 43 opportunities.
