A morning power outage in Pender County didn't stop the creative minds of some local youngsters.
Camp invention was in full swing at Cape Fear Elementary School.
Cape Fear Elementary School is taking advantage of a national program promoting active learning with a scientific twist.
Students work in teams to solve problems and sharpen their skills with innovation.
For example, to learn about physics, the kids are building a rollercoaster.
Camp director Keenan Tusing said, "They're able to put it into a context that's fun for them, that they'll remember later on down the road when they learn about Newton's Law of Motion and things like that.">
The camp runs though the week.
School officials say it has been so successful, they plan on offering it again next year.
