Diligence Dash

Shannon King, a Diligence crew member signed up for Saturday's race and his boys got to go along for a 3 mile ride, pushing the boys in a stroller. "they're a pretty good load, they're about 80 pounds plus the stroller. I hoping I can make it without falling down or them not falling out of the stroller."

293 runners signed up for the run.. That's a record turnout..
At the one mile mark, Tom Clifford of Wrightsville Beach emerged from the pack with a comfortable lead. Clifford used this race as part of his training for an upcoming triathlon.
At the one mile mark Leanne Johnson was about a minute back... At this point, she's the lead female. Tom Clifford had everything including a little encouragement...with a time of 14 minutes...51 seconds Clifford won the Diligence Dash. He said:"it was shady all the way up to the one mile marker, then going thru downtown we started to hit the sun, the sun really started to kick in about 2 miles."

Nolan Toby finished in 2nd place about 40 seconds behind Clifford.
Jim Toomey, a crew member with the Diligence took third and Leanne Johnson captured first place for women with a time of 21 minutes... 6 seconds.
