JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- The father of a 2-year-old boy is charged with severely burning him in a bathtub.
The child is in critical condition with third-degree burns at the Jaycee's Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
Jacksonville police say Larry Nash Junior restrained his son so forcefully the child suffered from a type of hemorrhage caused by bleeding blood vessels.
Officers say the father waited more than eight hours to take his son to the hospital.
Police say Nash admitted the abuse happened in the bathtub.
