New Hanover County Sheriffs deputies are investigating an early-morning shooting involving a department colleague.

Just after 5 a.m. this morning, authorities responded to a shooting in the Briarcliff Villas development off Gordon Road.

They found 27-year-old Tarica Pulliam suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.

Investigators say she was headed to her job as a detention officer with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office when she was ambushed.

They immediately put out a bulletin for the man who is believed to be responsible, 30-year-old Anthony Antwand Bowen.

Bowen is Pulliam's ex-boyfriend whom she had a restraining order against.

New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David said, "If he is out there watching, we ask that he call the sheriff's office immediately. If you know where he might be we ask that you call the sheriff's office as well."

Pulliam was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she later died from her wounds.

She leaves behind a 7-year-old daughter.

If you have any information on Bowen's whereabouts, contact the detective division of the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department. The number is 910-798 -4260.
