I fully support their effort to move to Hanover County. This will not only benefit Titan America but countless smaller businesses in the area resulting in creation and retention of jobs.

Yeah, all 160 jobs will be worth all the poullution that we are going to have out of this plant. What about all the people that will be losing their jobs due to pollution like all the fishermen that will not be able to shrimp, harvest oysters or clams which are a main filters for the water without them the water will be in very bad shape.People better learn a little more about this thing before they make a mistake the will last forever.

It's New Hanover County people that are being silly mob-mad about it. Castle Hayne is in NHC! You are correct though, many places would jump at the chance to have new industry coming in

We support Titan coming to New Hanover Co or any county in NC for that matter. We need the industry, the jobs and the income they will generate. We have been to several of the informational meetings and observed their procedure in manufacturing cement. It is fascinating! They are very environmentally friendly and run state of the art operations. There is no waste since they recycle everything back into their product. Every one should educate themselves regarding the effect this plant may or may not have on the surrounding area.
We are senior citizens and have no fear of any adverse effect on our health nor our children and grandchildren's health as a result of this plant in operation.

Absolutely. Titan is a good corporate citizen, environmentally conscious and will provide good paying jobs for our community.
It's too bad that they can't build 2 plants.

1. It will increase our CO2 emissions by 5%. What expense will this be to us in the future?
2. It will emit mercury which will slowly poison the environment as it degrades into methyl mercury and other compounds that have NEVER been studied. Titan's figures given in their safety studies come from some very flawed studies---all people educated in these matters know this.
3. They plan to mine extensively in the Island Creek region, they will be digging directly into our ground water aquifer in an environmentally sensitive area and could have far reaching effects---even so bad as to cause all or most of NHC to sink into the sea. Geological studies already show the county to be sinking (depression dome) because of groundwater depletion.
4. The dust from a cement factory is very toxic and will result in health problems for the workers and community---not to mention the shipping and its burden on our transportation system.
1. Big deal.
2. Already there, greatly overrated (not the health risk, the risk of exposure), normal cost of industrial development.
3. Put down the bong.
4. Workers wear respirators. Very little dust escapes the plant, as lost dust is lost product. No stress on transportation system at all. We have a fine interstate highway very close...
