McGRADY, N.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina woman who only arrived today to help in the search for a missing 12-year-old Boy Scout is the hero who brought the search to a happy conclusion.
Misha Marshall says she and her dog, Gandalf, were walking through the woods. She says she gave a scent to the dog from a piece of cloth. The dog was walking ahead of a group of searchers when he popped his head three times. The dog picked up the scent, the rescuers looked around and then spotted Michael Auberry.
Marshall says she was totally overwhelmed when she and Gandalf found Michael. She says at first, you don't believe he's the person your looking for.
Marshall, who's from Chesnee, says she joined the search with six people and five dogs from the South Carolina Search and Rescue Dog Association.
