First-grader caught with marijuana

NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- A local student is in hot water, after getting caught with drugs. But this isn't your typical drug bust. New Hanover County School officials say a first-grader was caught in a bathroom stall, smoking marijuana, at Alderman Elementary on Friday. A school spokesperson explained a teacher walked in to find the student smoking and then called the school's resource officer. Administrators don't know where the student got the drugs, but have already taken disciplinary action. Because of privacy laws protecting minors, no further details were available.
