RALEIGH -- Some state lawmakers are looking to pass a bill that would ban smoking in public places.
The State House committee passed the bill in a recent vote. This would ban public places that include restaurants, businesses and bars.
People we spoke to around Wilmington today have conflicting feelings about the proposed ban.
Fred Powers supports the ban. He said, "I think it's a great idea for the health of everyone around."
Robert Hutchinson is against the ban. He said, "I am in favor of people letting them smoke wherever they need to smoke. It's a free country."
The bill now goes to the full house for consideration.
