Woman hit by car still unconscious

WILMINGTON -- A woman hit while walking across a busy intersection is still fighting for her life tonight. Twenty-four-year-old Rachel Matthews is listed in critical condition in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Matthews and her three-year-old daughter Asani were crossing 16th Street in Wilmington Monday when they were hit by a car. Asani died the next day. Family members say Matthews is still unconscious. The driver has not been charged.
