Obama in Fayetteville: US less safe because of Iraq war

READ MORE: Obama in Fayetteville: US less safe because of Iraq war
FAYETTEVILLE (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has told a group in Fayetteville the Iraq war has left the United States less safe. The Illinois senator says the war has encouraged al-Qaida, the Taliban, Iran and North Korea. Obama told military families and local officials in the city near Fort Bragg the war must end. He criticized Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and likely Republican nominee John McCain. Obama says they talk tough on national security but make decisions that leave the country less secure. He says Clinton's opposition started when she launched her campaign. He says he opposed the war from the start, speaking against it when he was a state lawmaker. Today is the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war. Obama campaigns in Charlotte this afternoon. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

Less Safe?

Whatever! How many Americans have the Taliban or other Muslim Extremists killed on US soil since 9/11/01? Well? How are we less safe? I really don't get Barack Obama, and really I don't think I want to. He's a member of a racist church, he won't wear an American Flag, he won't put his hand on his heart for the Pledge of Allegiance... What's next? America needs a President with Red, White, and Blue pumping through his/her veins, not someone that seems Anti-America. I am very proud to be an American, and as long as I have anything to do with it, the United States will be safe! "Home of the free because of the brave" and if you can read this, THANK A TEACHER... if you can read this in English, THANK A VETERAN!

I don't know if War is the

I don't know if War is the answer to 9/11, but something had to be done. But I also agree that it is time we started bringing home our troops. At some point, we need to let Iraq defend for themselves. They are not a property of the US and it is NOT our repsonsibility to defend them. We need to let their guys show us what we've taught them Anyone that thinks Obama will end this war anytime soon is very naive

Obama's the best option to

Obama's the best option to turn this country around. Really McCain, Clinton and Obama would all do a much better job than Bush. We all had a drunk uncle growing up that disappointed us but we loved him just the same.

the only way that this clown would be the best option was if the only thing you had to choose from was him or a herd of swine. personally i would vote for the latter. you cease to amaze me with your idiotic comments. please seek medical attention immediately! they have stuff out there that will help you with your mental problems! if for some reason obama were to get elected he would have the USA where they couldn't beat theirselves out of a wet paper bag within 6 months!

Questioning Obama

"But Obama was supposed to be new. He flatters himself as a man of the future transcending the anger of the past as represented by his beloved pastor. Obama then waxes rhapsodic about the hope brought by the new consciousness of the young people in his campaign. Then answer this, senator: If Wright is a man of the past, why would you expose your children to his vitriolic divisiveness? This is a man who curses America and who proclaimed moral satisfaction in the deaths of 3,000 innocents at a time when their bodies were still being sought at Ground Zero. It is not just the older congregants who stand and cheer and roar in wild approval of Wright's rants, but young people as well. Why did you give $22,500 just two years ago to a church run by a man of the past who infects the younger generation with precisely the racial attitudes and animus you say you have come unto us to transcend?" The above are good questions asked by Charles Krauthammer in the article he has written. I have my own questions to the Obama cult followers, If life is so bad for the blacks as Wright preaches, why is Obama running for President instead of still sitting in the back of the bus? Those injustices have long been resolved and it's time for the black community to let it go and start being accountable for their own behavior and actions instead of blaming the whites for all that is wrong in their life. Bill Cosby has even said that to the black communtiy and was booed by the blacks as a traitor to his own race. It is time to let the past remain in the past. Get over it and move on.

Scally, exactly how dopey do you have to be.... vote for someone who has already told you that he's going to raise your taxes? Did you see the Senate continuing resolution that Obama (and Clinton) voted for last week? It plans on a 3% tax increase to any individual making over $31,850 a year (or couple making over $63k) immediately upon the Bush tax cuts expiring. $31,850!!!! Now we know exactly who they mean when they say that they're "going after the wealthy."

Why vote for more taxes?

Maybe I think that providing education to inner-city kids is more important than my new car stereo? Maybe I appreciate all the grants and opportunities I was given, and want to give back? Maybe because as a welfare child in the Bronx, it's only on the generosity of the previous generation that I was able to get a master's degree and work for NASA, making 6 digits in sunny cali with my convertible -- maybe I want other people to have that opportunity, and don't mind giving up the Porsche I want to do so? Maybe I'm just not as selfish as you...

He's telling the truth

Obama is telling the truth. The war has made the U.S. less safe to an extent. The war must end like he said, but let's face reality, it isn't going to. Also what Rev. Wright what Rev. Wright said, not Obama. I wish people would stop criticizing Obama because of him. Obama is being honest. That's what our country needs more of.

If Obama did not believe his preachers words...

Why the heck is he so devoted to the church? And as for the war making the US more unsafe...bull! The Government makes the US less safe. If you think Obama is going to help need to have your head examined. I would rather see Clinton in office. He is not black people...get a reality check.

What crystal ball is he looking in?

How do you know he's telling the truth and what proof does he or you have? Were we safer before 911? I know we haven't been attacked again since. As far as what Rev. Wright said, Obama must have agreed with him for the last 20 years to have stayed there while Wright was handing out awards to Louis Farrakhan.

This country is NOT less safe. We are a FREE society. That means we are free to move about the country without reporting our whereabouts. As long as we are FREE we are vulnerable...PERIOD. ANYONE could walk into ANY mall across this country right now and kill HUNDREDS of individuals with ease. We have more of a problem with our KIDS killing each other and killing OURSELVES than we do with terrorists coming to get us. As far as his reverend...he is a RACIST with a capital R, no two ways about it. Obama WAS in that sermon you can BET on that. He KNEW what this guy stood for and yet he followed him, even stayed in his congregation. What if this was McCain and HIS pastor was spewing such trash about blacks...would it be the same? NO!! He'd be labeled a racist and the NAACP, Reverend JJ and Al Sharpton would be crawling over barbed wire fences to attack him. Obama isn't being "honest" he is spewing trash talk....

WHAT in tarnation is he even doing here in the first place? This is a RED state and most likely will remain a RED long as we outnumber the yankees in the state.

get real

I wish people would open their eyes to this guy. I think he is smoke and mirrors.. I think our troops need to come home and have a home and medical care they need when they come home. This war was a personel agenda for bush and it needs to end. the gas price, food prices and health care needs to be taken care of. those people have faught since God was a boy and they will continue to fight no matter what any country goes over there and does. they are still killing our troops and they are still getting over here in our country doing things. It needs end. We need to clean our own back yards.

I agree 100%, if he becomes

I agree 100%, if he becomes president we will be up the creek all over again.

Obama is criticizing Clinton and McCain? Two words Barack: Rev. Wright. Treebeard I will rule all of Middle Earth...and the squirrels!!
