Officials talking trash

READ MORE:
waste300.jpg
Trash was on the agenda for New Hanover County Commissioners on Monday. They held a solid waste work session to continue discussion of how to best handle the county's trash disposal. Commissioners heard from the Solid Waste Advisory Board, as well as members of the public. The next step in the process... the county manager's office must come up with a request for proposal to send out to interested waste haulers. County staff and commissioners want to hear how the various companies would approach issues such as recycling, incorporating new technology, and handling the county's landfill and incinerator.

We must start county curbside recycling

I just don't understand why it has taken so long to get county curbside recycling. There are many other counties in this state that began this many many years ago. Yes there are recycling stations but I know the county would have less trash in the landfill if county curbside recyling was put into place. The convenience of this service would benefit everyone. It is very important and I sure hope the county officials work issues out soon so this can begin.
