WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- One Tree Hill will be back for an eighth season. The show's official Twitter page this afternoon said, "It's official...SEASON 8!" A CW publicist has since confirmed the news to WWAY.
Screen Gems Vice President Bill Vassar said One Tee Hill will shoot at least 13 episodes. That's a little more than half of a typical season.
"They are going to be doing 13 episodes, which means a million dollars an episode," Vassar said. "That's $13 million coming back in to the local economy for the second half of this year, and that's just great for Wilmington."
Vassar also said there is a possibility the show will agree to shoot an additional nine episodes. The CW will officially release its fall line-up Thursday morning in New York City during its upfront presentation to media and advertisers.
