ONLY ON 3 UPDATE: Ukrainian women leave NC without pay

READ MORE:

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- An update on a story you saw ONLY ON 3. The three Ukrainian women who claim they were mistreated and not paid by their employer are on their way home without their money.

The women left the Surf City area yesterday. The three say they never received their checks from the Waves Surf and Sports store in Surf City. The women claimed the owner was not paying them for hours of overtime, and that they were only paid a partial amount of what they were owed in cash.

Though the women left without money, they did enlist legal help from a Wilmington law firm. They hope now that they have an attorney they'll get everything they say they deserve.

" Waves Surf and Sports

" Waves Surf and Sports store " ok thanks- now I know where NOT to go. Shame on them for giving these ladies this kind of experience in the US.

This is far from being over....

A very competent Law Firm in Wilmington will be representing the Girls.
Once again, I wish to thank everyone that took time out of their busy lives to make sure the Girls "had fun" and "enjoyed" theirselves before they returned home to study at the University. A huge "thank you" to Dr. Hunt, Ms. Hatcher, & Ms. Porterfield at UNC Wilmington for assisting the Girls in participating in a lecture at the "very last minute". This is all they talked about for the rest of the day! & of course a huge thank you to the gentleman that arranged this.I have tons of photos that will always remind me of how "special" the Girls are. I was blessed to meet their families & boyfriends on Skype. My home was full of laughter & silliness & I will miss them so very much. I am full of different emotions as to why they did not receive the pay they honestly worked for & deserve. Of course, now it is in the Attorney's hands. These "sweat shops" need to be closed down. Something must be done about Foreign Exchange Students that are mistreated like the Girls were. Perhaps, next summer, they will visit a different country that will welcome them & treat them like human beings. I wish to say more, but I will "curb" my comments, being they are represented by an Attorney. God Bless you, Girls. I will never forget you. I love you.....Your American Mom...

Ukranian women

Well, all you have to do is look at the owner of this store. Women are not respected by this bunch.

Despite

all the publicity, their walk in trade did not diminish.

Unfortunate the young ladies did not picket the store with some of their local supporters.
