In 2005-2006, I had 44 adjusters working in the Ft. Lauderdale to Miami corridor adjusting hurricane claims. The local economy was devastated. Many small businesses were shut down due to hurricane damage.
Police officials cautioned folks not to use ATM machines if alone or after dark even if accompanied.
Gated communities were hiring armed gaurds to patrol as would be thieves were jumping the walls to access temporarily unoccupied houses.
