Paratrooper dies of injuries in noncombat incident

FORT BRAGG (AP) -- The military says a paratrooper has died in Iraq from injuries sustained in a non-combat incident. The Department of Defense said Wednesday that 30-year-old Sergeant Rafael Alicea Rivera of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, died Tuesday in Tallil, Iraq. The circumstances of his injuries weren't disclosed, but the military said the incident was being investigated. Rivera was assigned to the 307th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
