Park service marks 105th anniversary of NC flight

KILL DEVIL HILLS -- The National Park Service is hosting a celebration of the 105th anniversary of the Wright brothers' historic flight on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The park service said the free observance starts Wednesday morning at the Wright Brothers National Memorial with a wreath laying ceremony. The event gets more exciting at 10:35 a.m. when military aircraft begin flying over. The aircraft include F-18 Hornets, F-15E Strike Eagles, V-22 Ospreys and Black Hawk helicopters. The fly-by marks the exact moment the Wrights' heavier-than-air powered plane took flight. The brothers had two successful flights on Dec. 17, 1903.
