Pender County woman charged with animal cruelty

PENDER COUNTY -- A Pender County woman charged with animal cruelty had her court case continued Tuesday. Anita Hewett was charged with eight counts of animal cruelty last month by the Columbus County Animal Cruelty investigator. Hewett is accused of starving eight horses. The horses have since been placed in foster homes where they are recuperating. Hewett court case has been rescheduled for early October.

The hewetts did NOT win the case. There was a technicality. the warrant was written incorrectly.

I'M SURE THE JUDGE KNOWS ALREADY, HE THREW IT OUT BECAUSE OF THE TECHNICALITY. HE HAD NO CHOICE. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRIAL AND A HEARING. SO IF YOU KNOW SO MUCH, WHAT WAS THE JUDGE'S RULING?

IT WAS A HEARING AND ALL WITNESSES WERE HEARD. THE FACT WAS LISA AND LORI AND OTHERS WERE DISTINCTFULLY CAUGHT IN LIES. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD HAVE HAD THEIR S_ _ _ TOGETHER INSTEAD THEY WERE THE LAUGHING STOCK.THERE WAS SO MANY UHH I DONT KNOWS AND THE LOOK WHEN DRUG CHARGES WERE MENTIONED ON LISA HARTMAN. YOU KNOW HORSE THIEVERY LAW IS STILL HANGING WHEN ACUSED. I THINK THEY GAVE HER A BREAK. SO SHE AND HER HELPERS IN CRIME JUST KEEP ON WITH THIS TROUBLE AND MAYBE SOMEONE WILL TAKE TO THE LAW AND HANG HER WITH A NOOSE. WHO KNOWS? SHE HAS CAUSED HUMILIATION ON HERSELF AND I CANT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE ARE STILL BELIEVIVING THE LIES. BUT IT WAS A TRIAL AND IF YOU WANT FACTS GO TO COLUMBUS COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND LOOK UP THE DATE AND YOU WILL SEE FOR YOURSELVES. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL YOU WELL EDUCATED PEOPLE? READ BETWEEN THE LINES. STOP, THE NONSENSE AND LET THESE PEOPLE GET ON WITH THEIR LIVES AND GET THEIR REPUTATION BACK FROM WHERE A DRUGGY HAS TRIED TO RUIN. I PAT THEM ON THE BACK BECAUSE THEY STOOD UP FOR THEMSELVES AND DIDNT LET LIES DESTROY THEM AND THEIR LOVE FOR THEIR HORSES. THE STATE SEEN WHAT WAS GOING ON ALL ALONG AND FOR SOME REASON THIS DRUG HEAD HAS A GRUDGE ON THIS WOMAN AND HER FAMILY. AND ACCORDING TO CENSUS OF NORTH CAROLINA, THERE WAS NO MRS. ANITA HEWITT IN PENDER COUNTY EVER RESIDING. IN FACT HER ADDRESS HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR QUITE SOMETIME. AND TERRY HAS NEVER LIVED ANYWHERE ELSE BUT MACO NC BEFORE HIM AND MRS. HEWITT WERE MARRIED. AND IF THE DEAD COULD TALK WELL, LISA WOULD BE UNDER THE JAIL, BUT THATS ANOTHER TRIAL AND ANOTHER TIME.

You people are taking this way too far, didn't the horses get returned to the Hewetts, Evidently the horses weren't that bad off if they were returned, What will all of these comments do for the horses, eh? I mean seriously, all of this junk Lisa Hartman is saying, it has to be exaggerated a little bit

You all don't even know the whole story, so keep your lousy comments about Lisa to your self. She is a wonderful,big hearted person who absolutely loves all animals, not just horses. To say that she is a "witch" or a "black soul" indicates to me that these people who posted these comments are not very intelligent. I have not known Lisa that long or that personally, but what I do know is that she only had those horses best interest at heart. I have seen the before and after photos of these horses and can only say that they are much better off without the Hewetts. I don't know them personally, but it should never have gotten to the point where those horse looked like skeletons. I wish I could attach the before and after photos for all of you to see, so you would all know the TRUTH!!!! But take my word for it, you will see those photos one way or another.

why do you want to keep this thing going with the hewetts? You say you dont know them but you Sue, have pictures of their horses.Thats kinda odd.I have known the Hewetts for a right long time. And I have been places with them and their horses. My horse was haul with theirs and I know for a fact!!! That they always had feed and hay for there horses.They are great friends to all of us.So back off of them you have No right to keep this mess alive.Did you not here the NEWS the Hewetts WON. BACK OFF!!!

the hewetts in fact did NOT win. they got the horses back because of a technicality. a problem with the warrant. if this case had gone to trial, there was a TON of evidence th get a conviction.

There was a trial and you know it.I was there with someone else that day for another matter and we decide to stay and see what goes.I am glad we stayed now.If this was not a trial what do you call it then.We were at the Columbus County Court House in Whiteville NC.There was a Judges,Lawyers, DA, clerk of court and bailers and witness in the booth beside the Judge.So if this was not a trial,then what was it? We all heard what was said and what the JUDGE said to that Lisa person.And we all saw and heard what she said to the JUDGE and what he said to her.The evidence that lisa person and workers had were all mess up.Maybe you seem to be great friends with the Judge. tell him that the Hewetts didnt win.And let us all know when you are going to tell the judge That.

This is bull !!!!! Why are you people not leaving this alone? The way I see it is someone didn't get what they want.Why do you all want these horses so bad as to cause harm to the hewetts neighbors with this.Spit it out we want to hear this bull. we all know that the hewetts neighbors did not do this to them.We all get along around these parts.Made be the hewetts nieghbors need to go after you and your little friends for LYING.Hey mary I have some news for you! Anyone who is defending the

Anyone who is defending the Hewetts needs to have their head examined. Neighbors and family members, veterinarians have testified to the fact that the animals were skin and bones when hauled off. The animal control took pictures of them the day they were removed. When they were returned, no one recognized them they looked so good. ANYONE who knows the Hewetts and sees how they live would realize they don't have the money to feed eight horses! These people must have hoarding syndrome or some type of mental illness.

We are neighbors of the Hewetts.I know for a fact that none of us testified against the Hewetts.And I can not believe that any family member of the Hewetts would do that.I think that to acuse us of doing that you need to tell who did it. Are stop lying about it. I saw the horses the day they were bought back to their owners where they need to be. Me and some friends of mine stop in to see the horses after you all pull out. ( I saw the picture of the horses the day you stole them from the hewetts). You call yourself rescue people.Ha.You should be charge with abuse.The paint horse was all scared up.What in the world did you do to him. Where is the fat on him.you can see his ribs.The big red horse ,where is her fat.You can see her ribs also.Her hoofs were not trimed.Do I need to go on? You had them for 8 months right.How do you know so much about the Hewetts?I dont think its your business are anyones business about their life.Or how much money they have.These people are very fine people and its wrong what you are doing to the Hewetts.And we neighbors are not going to take any more of you lies about the hewetts who are very good neighbors to us all.Oh we saw you going threw the power lines to get to the Hewetts house when they were not home.You were being watch the whole time.We are not going to let you harm the Hewetts.

I live in Prosper not far from where some of the Hewetts horses were at. The horses were put on display for everyone to see.The paint horse is the one whom these people wanted.The rumors I was told is that they have being trying to get the horse for quite sometime.Because they use to own the horses father.These people know the Hewetts very well I understand.Another horse they had of the Hewett,someone came and got her because she would not stay in the fence.So she was taken over to Kelly.I guess to her new foster home.I have always known the Hewetts and how well they care for their horses.I have seen with my own eyes the hewetts take skinny horses and put weight on them.If they said the horses got sick I believe them and everyone sure too. I dont go alone with what my neighbors did to the hewetts this is very wrong of them.I am ashame to call you my neigbors.When I get the chance I am going to the Hewetts home to give them my surport. And I think other people should too.
