Pender High holds massive reunion to help classmates keep in touch

Many of us have attended a class reunion of some sort, but this weekend one local high school welcomed more than thirty classes back to school. Pender High School held a massive reunion for anyone who ever attended the school, which opened in 1976. The event was organized in an attempt to bring together old classmates who have lost touch over the years. The weekend-long event featured a number of events including an alumni basketball game, a retro dance, as well as an outdoor picnic with plenty of food and music. Organizers said they wanted to make sure people stay in touch. “We want to try and figure out where everybody's at. Throughout the course of the years, people have lost loved ones and some of our classmates have passed on. We kind of just want to keep in touch with everybody who ever attended Pender High School,” said organization committee member Sabrina Wooten. Organizers used the internet to find alums now living across the country and bring them back to Pender County for the reunion. The event also served as an attempt to raise money for more elective programs at the school.

PHS Alumni

So glad to attend thee reunion I must say the committee did a great job I was able to gather all of my information from the website and also from the Post and Chronicle. Hopefully next year more people will respond now that they know it is in place. If you didnt attend or didnt get information on it. I am sure the committe is still campaigning for more help. Let's stay positve as this organization continues to do what has never been done before in this County . The Best part was that they were able to donate a large amount of funds to the band and JROTC. I was glad that it was held on a Holiday weekend It gave me something to do as well as my family. Once again great job to all were involved in making this a success. Remember to watch the paper, check the website and of course this community calender for updates. Stay positive......

Mass Reunion

I apologize on behalf of the Pender High Alumni Committee to everyone who did not hear about the reunion. We as a committe strived to get the word out for over a year. We did do PSA's on the local channels two weeks before the actual event. We advertised in the local papers a month before the event and did some paid advertisement on local radio stations. We have been asking for the input of alumni because we value the opinions of everyone. We hope to be better able to serve all our alumni in the future. Please check the site for future updates.

Missed It

Maybe next time they won't have it on a holiday week-end, when people already have plans.

PHS Mass Reunion

PHS has its own social networking site & this reunion has been on that website since Dec. 08, or longer (that's when I became aware)...

Class of '77

I was unaware of this reunion as many others seemed to be. Perhaps in the future a reunion would be aired on the news channel a least a month before one is to take place.

I am a 1990 graduate of Pender High and still live in Pender County. I didnt hear anything about this, I would have loved to see old friends. Maybe if they have it again, they could run a story like this before it happens so more people would come.
