Perdue vows grabbing federal stimulus bucks for NC

RALEIGH -- Gov.-elect Beverly Perdue promises to grab onto North Carolina's share of a federal stimulus package, and to push for more spending on the state level. Perdue said Monday her administration would claim the state's fair share of any federal spending, plus a bit more if North Carolina leaders do their jobs well. The incoming governor says she and other state leaders will act Tuesday to approve borrowing $700 million for state building projects. Perdue spoke in Raleigh along with economists for two trade groups. Chamber of Commerce chief economist Martin Regalia said he expects the current trend of increasing unemployment to continue this year, and he doesn't expect any job growth until 2010. They just borrowed money last session illegally to balance the last this? I think we need to cut politicians first...then work on a budget. A cut in corruption up there in Raleigh would save loads of money!
