WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The animal rights group PETA is honoring the Wilmington Fire Department for some recent work.
Wednesday, Wilmington firefighters rescued two kittens from a burning house. Firefighter Oscar Cerda then used special oxygen masks to revive the cats, including working for about 20 minutes on one.
The work earned the department PETA's Compassionate Fire Department Award. The fire department will receive a framed certificate and a letter of appreciation.
