Philanthropists honored for their work

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Area philanthropists were honored today for their contributions and hard work. The Cape fear chapter of the association of fundraising professionals presented awards to organizations, groups and individuals as part of National Philanthropy Day.

Among the winners was UNCW's chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon, which won the award for Outstanding Student Philanthropy.

"It's actually really exciting, because this is the first year that the student organization has been offered an award, so it's a huge honor. We are just really humbled that we can be recognized, that we can give back and continue to spread the joy," Pi Sigma Epsilon president Jennifer Coady said.

The award for Philanthropist of the Year was a tie. Dickson Baldridge and Louise Coggins both took home the title.
