Pit Bull pups stolen from Wilmington homes

A dog breeder in Wilmington wants to know who stole two pit bull puppies from his and his neighbor's backyards. The American pit bull pups were taken from the backyards on Evans Street sometime overnight between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Daniel Patterson reported that he left his three dogs, a mother and two puppies, in a makeshift chain link cage in the backyard. On Wednesday night, the mother dog and two of her puppies were in the cage. When the victim woke on Thursday morning, the mother and one puppy were still there, but one of the pups was missing, and the mother appeared to have been beaten. The missing puppy is a black and white pit bull, about two months old. Patterson's son's bike was stolen the same night. The owner of the other dog says when she went to bed Wednesday, all three of her dogs were in a gated area in her backyard. She said when she got up Thursday, the bricks that usually hold the gate in place were pushed aside, and one of the puppies was missing - a tan and white dog named Junior. Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 343-3600, or to TextATip: Enter Tip708 and the message, and send to CRIMES (274637).

PIT BULLS ARE GOOD DOGS I HAVE 2 OF THEM. FIRST THING THE DOGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE HOUSE IT WAS WAY TO COLD OUT SIDE, AND NO PIT BULL MOTHER IS GOING TO LET SOMEONE BEAT THEM UNLESS THEY WHERE ALREADY BEATEN. SOMEONE WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TAKE THOSE DOGS IF THE DOGS WHERE NOT BEATEN DOWN BY THE OWNERS ALREADY. I HOPE THEY TAKE YOU DOGS AWAY.
Are you all just blind? Because you're really not seeing the bigger picture here. Ever cross your mind that this could possibly be linked to a dog fighting ring? They know exactly who took their dogs, and know the real reason why the mother pit "appeared to have been beaten." At least now, hopefully, they'll quit fighting the dogs, now that they're under the watchful eyes of the public and the humane society.
hey i'm sorry to hear about your pitbull being stolen i just got a blue pit about a month ago and i love the breed they're beautiful and the person that said leaving a dog outside over night, well thats her opinion but my dog loves being outside and any way i hope you find your dog soon and if you want send me a picture and ill be sure to keep an eye out because i do alot of driving around town. God Bless.
I am so sorry that some heartless person stole your puppy. I hope you find the person. Only a couple of months ago I came home to find my dog was taken. I knocked on every door surrounding me for 2 days. On that second day I knocked on a door and my dog came to the door before the home owner did. Needless to say I was fortunate enough to get her back. The home owner gave me a lame excuse that he found her but he never called and the number was engraved on her collar. She also had two tags with the number. Im so sorry you have to go through this. II don't know if I can be of any help but if I can please feel free to email me.
If people were more responsible pet owners, things like this wouldn't happen as often. Why would you leave your dog outside all night long? If you consider them a pet and not a yard ornament then they would be inside with you and your family. Dogs are pack animals and do not like to be left outside. It was so cold this week -- I can't believe the inhumanity of leaving puppies outside -- especially pit bulls. I don't even want to imagine where they are now. It amazes me how ignorant people can be.
I would let them out too if they were in my neighborhood. Pitbulls outside? It would have just been a matter of time before they got big and attacked some child in the neighboehood!
Obviously you only watch the news and have no experience dealing with this type of breed. I have 2 and they dont even defend themselves against other dogs when they are attacked. WHy you ask? Because they werent taught aggression. Pit Bulls arent even in the top 10 dogs that bite, listed by the humane society. Go figure. But you sit there making blanket statements about something you know nothing about. Good Job!
Why do rotty and pit bits make the news? Because of the damage they can do. Nobody cares to report about the lab that rips into a child or the golden that removes fingers.
Quick, call PETA, Animal Control and the Humane Society. The nerve of these people to keep animals on their own property, outside, in a makeshift cage. Any garbage laying around the yards, anything that may be breaking city code? It's these homeowners fault, not the poor thieves. LOL!
