Police cruiser going 90 mph before fatal NC wreck

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- Police say a North Carolina officer whose cruiser collided with another vehicle and killed its driver was going more than 90 mph without lights or siren when the crash occurred. The Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe said his department will investigate the wreck. Police said Officer Martray Proctor's cruiser collided with a vehicle Sunday night at a north Charlotte intersection and killed 20-year-old Shatona Evette Robinson of Davidson. Four others, including the officer, were hurt. State law requires police to obey speed limits unless their blue lights and siren are activated. The speed limit where the accident occurred is 45 mph. should be charged

Since this officer disregarded proper procedure for driving without his warning equipment he should be charged in the death of the driver of the other car. You don't go that fast without your lights and siren going.

This needs to stop

This needs to stop happening... cops can't drive around putting their own or other innocent people's lives in danger. That is the job of the bad guys. Police are supposed to serve and protect, not kill. I'd rather have a criminal on the loose than a cop car coming at someone I love at 100 mph. With the death of Officer Matthews in Wilmington, we need to understand that people's lives can't be lost as a sacrifice to get the bad guy. What can the bad guy do that is worse than killing innocent people? I guess I have faith that in time and with technology, criminals will be busted, even if not at the moment of the crime. I hope cops slow down... and this officer didn't have his lights or siren on? How can this be? He should be charged to the fullest extent of the law.
