OAK ISLAND -- New details are emerging in the murder investigation of an Oak Island man. Philip Allen Cook, 48, was found dead on his front porch Monday. Authorities say robbery was the motive in the death of the Island Way restaurant owner. Shortly after leaving his restaurant, authorities say Phillip Allen Cook was robbed at his home on N. West 25th Street either late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Authorities say money from the Island Way had been stolen off of Cook before he was killed when the robber struck him on the head. A friend found Cook a little after five Monday evening when he went to his house to check on him. Police are asking for the public's help. They are offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. You can contact the Oak Island Police Department at 278-5595.
