I'm for anything that will limit the breeding of downtown residents. If you think about it... this grant money actually benefits tax payers.
I was disgusted to hear the commissioners speak of using a contraceptive as not being responsible. I feel someone reaching out for help to receive birth control is showing a great responsibility. They are in the know of the consequences and are seeking help. So much for New Hanover County commissioners being for the people.
I am sick and tired of my (tax) money being used to provide goods and services to individuals when I, and my family, have to pay "out of pocket" for the same goods and services.
If you, or anyone else, feels led to fund these endeavors I am sure the Health Department will take your check. Why have we strayed away from charity organizations in lieu of "forced charity" through higher taxes?? If our government (local, state and federal) would stop robbing our paychecks to pay for these things people would have more money to fund the charities that are "close to heart".
These gentlemen need to tune into something beside Rush Limbaugh. It seems they are stuck on the idea that only young, single women have sex? NEWS FLASH!! Married women have sex too and not everyone can afford contraceptives but do not want to overpopulate the world with unwanted children. Would you guys rather pay for contrceptives or pay for a child for the first 18 years of their life.
Gentlemen, get your minds out of the gutter and on the right track. Sex occurs after marriage too. Remember???
